The history and development of Exeter’s Quayside is brought to life with lively display, illustrations and artefacts. This former warehouse was built during the golden age of Exeter’s thriving woollen cloth industry in 1680. As well as models and items from the cloth industry such as “tenter hooks and tillet blocks”, an exciting audiovisual presentation “Exeter, 2000 years of history” highlights Exeter’s history from Roman times until today.
The centre provides tourist information, and can book accommodation. Open all year, a small shop provides interesting souvenirs of Exeter, including replica maps, local pottery and a selection of heritage books.
