Murton Park is home to the Yorkshire Museum of Farming. The collection is displayed within two museum buildings and through various open air parts of the site. The Four Seasons building takes visitors through the farming year, season by season, from winter ploughing to autumn harvest. The Livestock Building concentrates on the farming of animals, including sheep, cows, pigs and the uses of heavy horses.
The site also holds several living history experiences for both adults and children onsite and in schools, including a Roman fort, a Dark Age village, a Tudor experience and the Home Front experience. They are designed to be used as large outdoor classrooms.
The site also includes the Derwent Valley Light Railway, farm animals, picnic area, playground, shop and café.
